When you are selling your home and preparing for a big move, it can often be home for saletricky to stay organized. It’s important to keep track of what you are doing, what items you have packed, and to keep all of your things organized in order to make sure nothing gets lost or misplaced in the moving process.

There are a number of tips that can help you stay organized when you are moving to a new home.

There’s no prediction or guarantee on how long it will take to sell your old house or to close on your new home. If there is a gap of time between the two, you might want to invest in storage space in order to keep your things safe while you wait to move into your new home.

If your new home is going to be smaller than your current home, you will need to begin downsizing some of your possessions. You can have a garage sale, donate items to charity, give things to friends and family, or if you feel that you will want some of the items at a later date, you might choose to keep them in storage.

Moving Into New Home ImageWhen moving or putting items into long-term storage, make sure to clearly label boxes that you place things in. One great idea is to take a picture of the contents of the box and place that picture on the outside of the box. This is also helpful during the moving process.

When you are moving, you also want to make sure to set aside a box of things that you will require right away. This can include cleaning supplies, toilet paper, some dishes and other items that you will want to use as soon as you get into your new home.

It’s important to make sure to keep a list of the items you’ve packed and to double or even triple check. There’s no such thing as being too careful.

If your children have beloved toys, you might also want to keep those aside and pay careful attention to what happens to them. Moving can be strenuous enough on a child and they will not want to lose a beloved toy, as well.
