Having lived in Brooklyn, New York I’m acutely aware of when a neighborhood like City Heights is on the upswing. It’s not hard to tell when it happens. New home buyers enter the area, real estate prices start edging upward and people hit the streets. City Heights, one of the most diverse neighborhoods in all of San Diego, is in the middle such a Renaissance. Which makes right here and now the perfect time to buy a new home.

Imagine if I told you, that you could go back in time and purchase property in what is now Williamsburg, Brooklyn, or Silverlake in Los Angeles. First off, you’d probably want to see my time machine. I mean, how amazing would that be? But soon after you gazed at my Delorean or H.G. Welles contraption, you’d want to do one ting and one thing only. Make a deal. Well, I’m telling you now. The Southwestern Williamsburg is on the market. The new Silverlake is in San Diego. It’s City Heights folks. And for the right real estate buyer, it’s a steal.

If you’re looking for an authentic city feel and want to know what it’s like to be “plugged in”, City Heights may be the perfect place to start looking for a new house. Arts and Culture are in abundance here. Ethnic restaurants featuring a slew of out of this world tastes and sensations line the streets of University Ave. and El Cajon Blvd. It’s also one of the few neighborhoods in San Diego, or any California city for that matter, that has a strong flow of pedestrians. That’s right kids. You can walk from where you live to where you want to eat, play or simply pass the time.

Single family homes are still affordable and offer a glimpse into the city’s past. Most of the houses in City Heights were built between the turn of the 20th century and the 1940’s. And if you want move into a safe secure home with plenty of neighbors than you’ll be happy to know that City Heights is full of great Condominium homes. And yes, for the ultra frugal real estate buyer, you can get your hands on  a gorgeous BOE.

So there you have. Consider your time machine to savings. Consider City Heights your new home.
